Remember to wear your Y name badges!
Arrive starting at 9:00 am for check-in and to pick up packets.
Beginning at 9:30 am, we'll go through our talking points and legislative priorities.

Arrange who will be part of your delegation.  You are especially encouraged to bring youth along, such as participants in the Youth in Government Program, along with other volunteers and other staff.

We will provide you with training, talking points and handouts before you head out to your visits.  Every member of your team should be ready and able to talk with legislators and staff - and should help tell the story of the Y in your community.

We are returning to our 2019 location - right in the center of all the action!  We will be in the L'Etuale du Nord Vault - which newer space in the Capitol after the recent renovations.  The Vault is located in the center of the Capitol on the Tunnel Level.  It is a large space - easy to find, and more convenient to legislative meetings in the State Office Building and the Minnesota Senate Building.

Below is a printable map of the Capitol complex, including parking locations and transit stops.  To schedule a trip via bus or rail, use the MetroTransit link below.

Parking is sometimes a challenge at the Capitol complex.  Best advice to get a good spot is to arrive EARLY.  All parking requires payment - most locations accept cards and cash at pay stations.

Some good parking options include:

  • Lot Q - on Cedar Street, just north of the Capitol

    • This is where many have parked in years past

    • Must use the front entrance to the Capitol from this location (Capitol side doors are locked)

  • Ramp F - between the State Office Building and Transportation Building

    • This has easy access to the the Tunnel system, via the State Office Building

    • The "State Office Parking Ramp" nearby is not a public ramp - make sure to use the correct ramp

    • Public parking is only on the main level and fills up quickly.

  • Lot AA - on the corner of Rice Street and Aurora Avenue

    • This is a good overflow location if other options are full

    • Best way to the Capitol (and to avoid the cold) is to cross over to the State Office Building and access the Tunnel

  • Street Parking

    • Watch for meters on nearby streets, especially on John Ireland Boulevard
